Friday Fill-in

#99

1. The last band I saw live was Def Leppard *.
2. What I look forward to most on Thanksgiving is not having to go to work.
3. My Christmas/holiday shopping is done, we only buy for the kids.
4. Thoughts of sadness and a need for sleep fill my head.
5. I wish I could wear anything and look great.
6. Bagpipes are sad sounding, loud, and are usually played by men in kilts.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to spending time with my new bird, and making sure the current one is OK and spending time with her as well, tomorrow my plans include trying not to do too much as I'm not feeling good and Sunday, I want to rest, and try to remember that next week is only a three day week!

Friday 5 for November 21: How?

1. How’s your health?
So-so

2. How was your day?
Not good. It should be, it's Friday after all but it's not.

3. How’s the weather?
It's freezing! I know it could be worse though.

4. How do you expect to get anywhere in life with an attitude like that?
Good point. But I'm more a 'glass half empty' kinda girl even though I always hope for the best.

5. How many people made you smile today?
Two actually, so far, which was quite a feat all things considered.

Have a healthy weekend!

Top 5 On Friday - Week 200

Its our 200th Top 5!!! Everyone party!!

Top 5 reasons you splurge on a purchase of music.

1 - It's Olivia Newton-John or Def Leppard (for me that's reason enough usually).
2 - I can't get the song out of my head and I love it (better to love the song playing incessantly in your head than not).
3 - I love the music, lyrics, everything about it, and want to be able to read the CD jacket and take it with me when the mood strikes.
4 - I want to see them live in concert.
5 - Because I want it! (what better reason!?)

Music Memoirs
Tuesday Tunes: Week 58

The Meme Mistress is going to a concert tonight, so that's going to be our theme this week.

If money were no object, what band would you see in concert?

Def Leppard! (or Olivia Newton-John, or Aerosmith, or Van Halen.... the latter two are the most expensive)

Where were the closest seats you've ever had for a show (that was non-general admission)?

Row M, aisle, just 2-3 feet from the end of the thrust (stage section that juts out into the audience at a Def Leppard concert)... that's closer than it sounds. It was awesome!

What type of venue do you prefer to see a show?

One with seats. And security that (keeps the seat hoppers in their designated area and) doesn't mess with you when you want to take photos. And cooperative concert-mates, because some people are major a$holes(!!!) and can ruin the entire experience for you! And I hate crowds so less invasion of my (tiny concert-room) space would be sooooo appreciated.

Manic Monday #142

Do you believe people are basically good?

I wish I could say yes definitively, but I can't. Some people, sure. There has to be some good people out there and I'd like to keep that little bit of hope alive if I can. But everyone else seems to have an agenda, or takes the "you have to put yourself first" thing a little too seriously.

If you could change the custom of shaking hands, what would you replace it with?

Maybe a light "fist bump." It still requires some physical contact but in a much less constricting way. (hand shake is a full on grab, fist bump is a light tap, still contact, but less invasive)

What is something that you enjoy that is a chore for most other people?

Hmm... can't think of anything offhand... most things are a chore and anything enjoyable that isn't actual work would be considered a hobby (to me).

Today’s Theme: Pre-Holiday Nausea

When you see holiday decorations, hear holiday music, and are bombarded with holiday promotions 2 months before the actually holiday takes place, does it fill you with merry excitement or does it make you want to barf a little? Rarely people are in-between on this one.

Bah! Humbug! I hate it. Makes me feel very scrooge-like when I see Christmas trees and hear Christmas music in stores in early October. And then theres the TV commercial bombarding that starts about the same time. It's too much. Makes me hate this season. It's supposed to be a time of sharing and giving (and peace and love and light and all that stuff) but it's become just a big gimme-gimme-fest.

Bring on New Years and let's get the commercial stuff over with.

Let's keep it simple today:
What is your theme song, and why?

I don't think I have a theme song but hearing a song (in my head or actually playing it, like) Seasons of Whither (Aerosmith), to name one, sometimes helps me feel a little more confident.
